Evidence Brief

Build a short, evidence-backed brief from your own records to explain or defend a decision, then check its sources, fill the gaps and export a PDF

On this page

An Evidence Brief helps you explain or defend a decision with your own TurfWise records — for example, why the greens were aerated in a busy week, or why fungicide spend went up.

How do I start a brief?

1

Click New Evidence Brief

It's at the top of the Evidence Brief page.

2

Choose a Brief Type

Types are grouped under Course Condition (such as Greens Condition Defence or Winter Programme Summary), Budget & Spend (such as Fungicide Spend Justification or Staffing Level Defence), Compliance & Governance (such as HSE Compliance Pack) and Reporting & Review (such as End of Season Review). Choose Custom Brief to describe the situation in your own words.

3

Set the audience and period

Pick an Audience & Tone — Committee Brief, Formal Audit, Internal Management or Self-Review — then a Period Start and Period End.

4

Narrow it down (optional)

Pick course Areas, or leave them empty for the whole course. Add a note with anything the brief should take into account.

5

Click Create Draft

Then open the brief and click Generate Brief.

Save time

Generate Brief writes the narrative for you from your weather, turf, spend and operational records for that period, and lists exactly which records it used. You check and tidy it rather than starting from a blank page.

How do I know if the brief will stand up?

After it's generated, a banner shows the evidence strength — Strong Evidence, Moderate Evidence or Limited Evidence — with how many sources it used and how many gaps it found. Below the narrative:

  • Evidence Sources — which records were used, with a count for each
  • Missing Evidence — gaps in your records, each marked by how serious it is
  • Strengthen This Brief — suggestions for making the case stronger
  • Evidence Timeline — the key dated events
  • Audit Trail — who created, edited, finalised and exported it, and when

Limited evidence means thin records

If a brief comes back as limited, your records for that period are thin. That's worth knowing before you walk into a committee meeting with it.

How do I finish it?

  • Edit — change the wording, then Save (or Cancel)
  • Regenerate — run it again after you've added records or changed something
  • Finalise — lock it in once it's Ready for Review
  • Export PDF — download it to share

The list on the main page can be filtered to All, Drafts, Ready for Review or Finalised.
