Task Costs Report

See what your completed jobs cost in labour, fuel, materials and equipment, which tasks cost most and where the hours went

On this page

The Task Costs report shows what the work on your course actually cost over the period you choose, built from the jobs your team has completed.

Where do the numbers come from?

Every figure comes from jobs marked done with a completion date inside your chosen period. Jobs still open or in progress aren't counted. Pick the period and an optional comparison in Report controls — see Reports & Analytics.

What do the headline figures mean?

  • Total cost — labour, fuel, materials and equipment added together
  • Labour cost — every member of a job's crew, at their own hourly rate, for the job's full hours
  • Fuel cost, Material cost and Equipment cost — fuel, products used, and your own machines' running time plus any hired-in plant costed to a job
  • Variance — the difference between what the jobs cost and the cost estimated for them when they were planned

If you've turned on a comparison, each figure shows how it moved against the earlier period.

Missing hourly rates

If anyone on these jobs has no hourly rate set, the note under the figures says how many. Their time is in the hours but not in the money, so labour will look low until you add a rate on their profile.

Machinery servicing isn't in Total cost, because a service belongs to a machine rather than a job. When there's any, it's shown on its own as Maintenance this period (not task-attributed).

What are the charts and tables?

  • Cost breakdown by category — spend for each category of work
  • Cost distribution — how the total splits between labour, fuel, materials and equipment
  • Man hours by area — hours worked in each course area, with Total hours, Areas and Avg hours
  • Cost trends — how cost moved across the period
  • Top cost tasks — your most expensive kinds of task, with Total cost, Frequency (how many times) and Avg cost

Category analysis

Each category gets a bar showing its cost and its share of the total. Click one to list the completed jobs inside it. Where you're allowed to open jobs, each one opens in a new tab so the report stays put. Click Close to fold it away.
