Clipping Yield

Record clipping boxes or measured collections, follow them over time, and check them against TurfWise's growth model

On this page

Clipping Yield records how much grass the mowers collect, which is one of the most honest signs of how fast your turf is growing.

Open Course › Turf & growth › Clipping Yield. It's included on Core.

Empties or Measured?

Use the switch at the top to pick how you record:

  • Empties — the number of boxes or buckets emptied. Quick, and plenty for spotting a trend.
  • Measured — a measured collection for a chosen area, in millilitres, with the number of buckets. You can add turf height, growth rate, moisture and notes.

Choose a period: 7d, 30d, 90d, 1 yr or All.

How do I log clippings?

1

Click Log

Click Log at the top of the page. The form matches the mode you're in.

2

Fill in the count

For Empties, enter the collection date and the number of buckets. For Measured, choose the area, then enter the date, buckets and yield in ml.

3

Save

Add any notes and save. The figures and chart update straight away.

Count on the same day each week, after a greens cut, so one week compares fairly with the next.

What do the figures and chart show?

In Empties mode the tiles show Total empties, Average per day, Collection days and Latest count. In Measured mode they show Average yield, Total yield, Avg buckets and Avg growth rate, with a card for each area.

The chart shows your clippings over time. The dashed line is the TurfWise growth model for the same days, from day and night temperatures and daylight.

Do the clippings follow the model?

Under the chart, a line says how closely your clippings follow the growth model. It needs at least 5 collection days with weather before it gives an answer. If your course has no location or no recorded temperatures, it says so.

Recent collections lists your latest entries.

Save time

Export downloads the collections as a CSV for your records or your agronomist.

Clippings feed other pages

Treatment vs Response uses your clipping counts to judge feeds and growth regulators, and the Growth page uses them as a check on the model.
