Fill a COSHH assessment from the safety data sheet
Upload a product's safety data sheet and TurfWise fills in the COSHH form for you, then suggests hazard categories, controls and PPE for you to accept or dismiss
Upload a product's safety data sheet when you start a COSHH assessment and TurfWise reads it and fills in most of the form for you.
Save time
Copying ingredients, hazards, PPE and first aid off a 16-section safety data sheet takes ages. Uploading the PDF does the first draft in under a minute, so your time goes on checking rather than typing.
This is part of Premium, with the rest of H & S. The AI suggestions also need your club's AI features to be available.
How do I fill a COSHH form from the sheet?
Open H & S > Assessments > COSHH and click New COSHH.
Upload the safety data sheet
Drop the PDF into Upload MSDS PDF, or click to browse. It must be a PDF of up to 20MB. TurfWise uploads it, then shows "AI is reading the safety data sheet", which takes 10 to 30 seconds.
See what was found
You'll see Data extracted from your file name, with a High, Medium or Low confidence badge and any warnings about things it couldn't read clearly. Upload the wrong sheet? Click Upload a different PDF.
Check every field
TurfWise fills in what it can: substance name, supplier, MAPP number, ingredients, hazard categories, people at risk, exposure frequency, control measures, PPE and emergency procedures. The sheet is also attached to the assessment with today's date.
Finish and save
Add anything that's missing, such as the review date and assessor, then click Save Assessment.
You're signing it off, not the AI
A banner reminds you the data is AI-extracted. Review and edit every field before saving. Pay most attention to hazards, PPE and emergency procedures, and check them against the sheet itself.
What if the sheet can't be read?
You'll see an error and Try again. If the upload worked but reading didn't, the PDF is still saved to the assessment, so you just fill the form in by hand.
How do the AI suggestions work?
On a wider screen, the COSHH AI Co-Pilot panel sits beside the form. You can collapse it if you'd rather not see it.
Completeness and gap alerts
The Completeness score shows how much of the assessment is filled in, section by section. Gap Alerts point out anything important that's missing.
Suggestions
There are three Suggest buttons:
- Hazard Categories — works once you've entered the substance name.
- Control Ideas and PPE Ideas — work once you've picked at least one hazard category.
Each suggestion explains its reasoning. Click the tick to accept it and it's added straight to the form, or the cross to dismiss it.
Advisory only
As the panel says, AI suggestions are advisory. Always check them against the safety data sheet and the current COSHH Regulations.
