Staff Performance

Rate your team's daily work, see who's doing well and who needs support, and build weekly reviews

On this page

Performance lets you score your team's work day by day, see the trends on a leaderboard and watchlist, and pull it all together into a weekly review for each person.

Premium

Performance ratings, leaderboards and weekly reviews are part of Premium. On Core you'll see the Performance section with a lock.

Where do I find it?

Click Team & kit in the top bar, then Staff › Performance › Performance. The page has three tabs:

  • Overview — the leaderboard and watchlist
  • Ratings — rate the team and see current standings
  • Reviews — weekly reviews for each person

For absence records before a one-to-one, use Staff › Attendance & time › Attendance & Leave.

How do I rate someone?

Ratings are quick scores you give each day. Little and often gives you far better trends than one big review a quarter.

1

Open the rating tool

Go to Ratings and click Open rating tool. Or, from someone's profile, go to their Performance tab and click Rate performance to go straight to them.

2

Pick who to rate

Under Who do you want to rate?, choose a team member. The list shows who's still waiting to be rated today. (You can also open this page directly from Team & kit › Staff › Performance › Rate Staff; see Rate Staff.)

3

Score the five areas

Score Quality, Efficiency, Attitude, Teamwork and Safety from 1 to 5; each starts on 4. To set them all at once, use a quick button: Excellent (5), Solid (4) or Coaching (3).

4

Add a note if it helps

Fill in What went well, To improve and Notes if you want to — they're all optional.

5

Submit and move on

Click Submit & next. TurfWise moves you straight on to the next person waiting to be rated. When you're done, you'll see "Everyone's been rated today".

Keep notes factual

"Poor attitude" doesn't help anyone. Write what you saw: "Arrived 20 minutes late to the 4th green mowing without letting anyone know." Specific notes are fairer and far more useful if they're looked at again later.

What does the Overview show?

Across the top:

  • Avg score — the team's average
  • Staff rated — how many people have ratings
  • Top performer — the highest score and who it belongs to
  • Needs attention — how many are on the watchlist

Below, the Leaderboard ranks your top ten by score, with how many ratings each has. The Watchlist lists anyone scoring below 75, with the area they're weakest in, so you know what to talk about.

Scores on the leaderboard are out of 100 — 85 and above shows green, 75 and above blue, 60 and above amber, and below 60 red.

Click any name to open their profile. Their Performance tab shows their overall score, how many ratings it's based on, and a bar for each of the five areas.

How do weekly reviews work?

A weekly review pulls a person's week into one page — their ratings, attendance and tasks — so you've got the facts in front of you for a one-to-one.

1

Pick a person

Go to Reviews and click a team member.

2

Choose the week

It opens on this week. Use the arrows to go back to an earlier week, or This week to return.

3

Generate the review

Click Generate review. TurfWise builds it from that week's ratings, attendance and tasks. If the week has moved on since, click Regenerate to refresh it.

The review shows:

  • An overall score, with bars for Quality, Efficiency, Attitude, Teamwork, Safety and Punctuality
  • Present, Late and Absent days, Tasks done and how many were On time
  • A Summary of the week
  • Strengths, To improve and Action items
  • Any Manager notes

Use it to start the conversation

Open the review before a one-to-one. Start with the strengths, then agree one or two clear actions — not a long list. Check back on them the following week.

Why is someone missing from performance?

On a person's Edit profile page there's a tick box called Include in work planning & performance analysis. If it's unticked, they're left out of performance reviews and productivity analysis. That's useful for office or admin staff who don't do course work.

Where does attendance come from?

The Present, Late and Absent figures come from the attendance and absence records TurfWise holds for that week — approved absences, and any lateness recorded with Mark as late on the person's profile. If those aren't kept up to date, the review can't reflect them. See Absences and leave.
