Your profile, display preferences, club details, and system configuration — all in one place

5 min read·Updated February 2026·⚙️ Account & Settings

Settings is where you control how TurfWise looks, how it behaves, and what details it holds about your club. Every user can change their own profile and display preferences. Managers and admins get extra sections for club-wide and system-level configuration.

Settings home page showing Personal, Club Setup, and System sections

This article refers to a live TurfWise screen. Media is omitted here so the written steps stay current across releases.

The Settings home page — what you see depends on your role

What this page does

The Settings home page is a launchpad. It shows cards linking to the different settings sub-pages, grouped by who should use them.

You won't edit anything directly on this page. Instead, you'll click into the sub-page you need (for example, Profile, Notifications, or Course Settings) and make changes there.

What you'll see on the Settings home page

Settings is divided into up to three sections, depending on your role.

Personal (everyone sees this)

  • Profile -- your course name, contact details, address, course type, regional preferences (timezone, date format, currency, units), and display options like theme and density
  • Notifications -- control which email alerts you receive
  • Password -- change your password

Club Setup (managers and admins only)

  • Course Settings -- configure your course layout, 9-hole loops, and routings
  • Task Templates -- create and manage reusable task templates for work planning
  • Machinery Checklists -- set up maintenance checklists for your fleet

System (admins only)

  • Security & Roles -- two-factor authentication, session timeout, password policies, IP whitelisting
  • Data Management -- import, export, and backup your data
  • Integrations -- weather API connection and location settings
  • AI Configuration -- control AI-powered features

Can't see Club Setup or System?

These sections only appear if your account has a manager or admin role. If you think you should have access, ask your club's TurfWise admin to check your role.

How to update your profile and preferences

Open Settings

Click Settings in the left-hand navigation, then click Settings Home. From there, click the Profile card (or go directly to /settings/general).

Check your organisation details

At the top of the page you'll find your club name, contact email, phone number, address, postcode, and course type. Update anything that's changed. These details appear on reports and communications, so keep them accurate.

Set your regional preferences

Choose your timezone, date format (DD/MM/YYYY is the UK default), currency, and whether you use metric or imperial units. These affect how dates, temperatures, and measurements display throughout TurfWise.

Toggle application features

Three toggles let you switch features on or off:

  • AI Recommendations -- AI-powered suggestions for course management
  • Weather Integration -- live weather data from your configured weather API
  • Maintenance Reminders -- automatic notifications for scheduled machinery maintenance

Pick your theme

Choose from three visual themes:

  • Glassmorphism -- translucent cards with a golf course background (the default)
  • High Contrast -- solid white backgrounds, easier to read in bright sunlight
  • Dark Mode -- a darker appearance with emerald accents

Your theme choice applies immediately and saves automatically.

Adjust density

Density controls how much space appears between elements:

  • Compact -- tighter spacing, more information on screen
  • Comfortable -- balanced (the default)
  • Spacious -- larger touch targets, more breathing room

This also saves automatically when you click it.

Save your changes

Theme and density save on click. For everything else (organisation details, regional settings, feature toggles), you'll need to click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page. You'll see a green confirmation banner when it works.

Organisation changes apply system-wide

If you change the club name, currency, units, or date format, every user in your organisation sees the new values. Check with your team before changing these.

Common problems and fixes

I changed the timezone or units but nothing looks different

Refresh the page after saving. Some pages cache data and need a reload to pick up the new settings.

Weather or disease forecasts look wrong

Go to Settings > Weather (/settings/weather) and check that your location coordinates are correct. Weather data is pulled for the GPS location stored there, not from your club address. If the coordinates are wrong, every weather-dependent feature (forecasts, disease risk, spray safety) will be off.

I can't see Course Settings or Task Templates

You need a manager or admin role. Ask your club's TurfWise admin to update your role if you should have access.

The Save button doesn't seem to work

Check for a red error banner at the top of the page. Common causes: your session has expired (log out and back in), or a required field is missing.

Good habits that prevent issues later

  • Check your location coordinates once after initial setup. If they're wrong, weather, disease, and spray safety data will all be inaccurate. This is the single most impactful setting in TurfWise.
  • Agree on units and date format with your team before anyone starts logging data. Changing units later doesn't recalculate historical records.
  • Use High Contrast theme outdoors. Glassmorphism looks great on a desktop monitor but can be hard to read on a phone in direct sunlight.
  • Review settings after staff role changes. When someone new takes on a manager or admin role, walk them through the Club Setup and System sections so they understand what they can change.

Where this fits in TurfWise

Settings feeds into almost everything else. Your location coordinates drive weather and disease predictions. Your course type and course settings shape how the Course hub works. Your unit and currency choices affect how numbers display in reports, finance, and spraying pages.

If something looks odd on another page, Settings is usually the first place to check.

Where to find it

Click Settings in the left-hand navigation, then Settings Home, or go directly to /settings.

Once inside, use the icon tabs at the top of each settings sub-page to move between Profile, Notifications, Security, Course Settings, and all other settings areas without going back to the home page.
