How it’s worked out
- Nozzle flow changes with the square root of pressure:
flow = flow at 3 bar × √(pressure ÷ 3). - Water rate:
L/ha = flow (L/min) × 600 ÷ (speed km/h × spacing m). - Finished water level:
area (ha) × L/ha. Product required:area (ha) × label rate per hectare.
The nozzle flows are the nominal figures for each ISO colour at 3 bar. Worn nozzles drift, so check against your maker’s chart and a timed jug test, and always follow the product label.
