Read & signed

Read and confirm the safe systems of work, COSHH and risk assessments that apply to you, read them again when one changes, and see who on the team has signed what

On this page

Read & signed is your record that each person has read and understood the safety documents that apply to them, and that they've read them again after a change.

Your own list is on My safety, and it's free on every plan. The team's progress is under H & S > Team > Read & signed, which is for managers and part of Premium. It's separate from the competency sign-offs in Training, which record that someone can do a job.

What do I have to sign?

Click H & S in the top bar. Crew land on My safety. Managers open H & S > Team > My safety.

The To sign card lists every approved safe system of work, active COSHH assessment, active risk assessment and completed inspection at your club that you haven't confirmed yet. A count at the top says how many are waiting, or that there's Nothing to sign.

Each document carries a badge:

  • To confirm — you haven't confirmed it yet
  • Read again — it's been edited since you confirmed it, so it needs reading again

When everything is done you'll see "You're up to date", with how many you've confirmed.

How do I confirm a document?

1

Open the document

Click Open the document. The document opens so you can read it — the risk assessment, COSHH sheet or safe system of work itself, not just the summary.

2

Read it

Take your time. The confirm button stays greyed out until you've opened the document, and a note beside it says so.

3

Click I've read and understand it

Your confirmation and the date are kept.

It's your signature

Confirming records that you, personally, have read and understood the document. Don't confirm on someone else's behalf, and don't confirm something you haven't read. TurfWise also refuses a confirmation for a document that wasn't opened first.

Why does something I signed come back?

When a manager updates a document, everyone's confirmation of the old version stops counting and it comes back as Read again. That's deliberate: a sign-off for a risk assessment that has since changed isn't worth much to an inspector.

Toolbox talks you were at also appear in To sign, with a Sign this talk button. Signing talks is part of Premium.

How do I see who has signed what?

Managers: click H & S, then Team, then Read & signed. The page is called Read & signed — the team. Three figures across the top show Fully signed, Partly signed and Not started.

Under Who has signed, switch between By document and By staff member:

  • By document shows each document's progress; expand it to see every staff member's status and date. Filter with the document type buttons.
  • By staff member shows each person as "3 of 8 confirmed". Expand them to see every document with its status — Done, Pending or Stale (confirmed before the document changed) — and a View link.

Chase the gaps, not the people

Sort by what's missing. A new starter will have everything pending, which is normal. A long-standing document with half the team still pending usually means nobody has pointed them to My safety.
